Located in the magnificent Aden Country Park - visit the Aden Estate Story and "Weel Vrocht Grun" exhibitions. Also see Hareshowe, a working farm set in the 1950s.

 


Museum of Scottish Lighthouses

Situated in Fraserburgh is the first lighthouse built on mainland Scotland and a purpose-built museum. The highlight of a visit is a 45 minute guided tour to Kinnaird Head lighthouse.

The Banffshire Coast is an excellent base for exploring the Malt Whisky Trail. Each of the 8 distilleries on the Trail is within easy driving distance. You don’t have to be a connoisseur to enjoy a visit as there is plenty to interest all including guided tours, coffee shops and gift shops

      The Baron
In April and May 2007 the three television and music personalities, Mike Reid, Malcolm McLaren and Suzanne Shaw, took part in a reality television programme in Gardenstown. It was provisionally titled The Baron of Troup though later broadcast as The Baron on ITV1. Their aim was to become a part of the fishing village within the 10 days they were living in Gardenstown.

   
     

Local Hero
BAFTA winner, Bill Forsyth's 1983 movie was filmed in Pennan. The red telephone box made famous by the film still remains as a feature of the village.
An American oil company sends a man to Scotland to buy up an entire village where they want to build a refinery. But things don't go as expected.

Director John McKay's 1998 short film Doom and Gloom, was critically recognised, winning a "Special Mention" in the "Youth on Youth Award" category at the 1998 Locarno International Film Festival, and the "Best European Short Film" prize at the 1999 Brussels International Film Festival.
